I am about to install a shower tray which the manufacturer recommends should be bedded on a weak 5:1 sand/cement mix on concrete or marine ply on 50x100 at 400 centres. The reason, "this smooths out any undulations between the floor and tray base". So far so good, obviously you need a rigid flat support. B17NNS... WebAug 30, 2012 · Don't be overly concerned Daz, the mortar mix will be fine directly on top of the plywood. Forget PVA, we've never used it & not known a tray fail or become unstuck. As for the weight, lay a good bed onto the ply 10-15mm thick, get a pal to help you lift it & plonk it onto the cement bed. Level it, that's very important!
