Recording Kings are great guitars on their own merits, and not just because they look like Martins. In the price range you mentioned, I'd also check out a used Eastman. I think they actually are shipping with 1 13/16" nut width. Another point is that due to construction process, specs for Eastman can be off a little per each guitar made.
