WebTeape • 5 yr. ago. 8700 is a 65W chip while the 8700k is a 95W chip. The 8700k max turbo is 4.7ghz vs 4.3ghz and the base clock on the 8700k is 3.7ghz vs 3.2ghz. The 8700k does not come with a cooler and you will have to buy an aftermarket one and deal with installing that, which can be a pain if you do not have experience. When I got mine and just left it all on stock (Including voltage) it ran ridiculously warm. Way warmer than my current OC. It also liked to slap over 1.4v on it which is ridiculous for stock.

Running the Intel Extreme tuning app stress test for 5 minutes my max temp spike is about 62C. The temperature spikes up and down from about 50C to a max of about 62C with a spike every 5 seconds or so.
